January in a Nutshell

The first Sunday in January Gordon got called to be Executive Secretary. It flipped our lives upside down for about a week while we tried to get used to a new busy schedule. But I think we've gotten the hang of it & Gordon is enjoying this new calling.

We have church from 2-5 p.m. which I kinda like. Carley had a hard time at nursery for some reason (she'd been loving it & doing fine) but after a few weeks she's liking it again & not crying. She does have a special hiding spot in there that she runs to each week. She has 2 men as her teachers & she calls them her "daddies". Haaaa Haaaaa! She'll say "I payed by my daddies".

Mya is in CTR 5 & has 2 teachers that she just loves. Sis. Wood & Sis. Thornes. She had Sis. Wood for nursery & Sunbeams so she's SUPER happy to have her again. Her testimony is so sweet & she says the funniest things sometimes (mixes up different principles & makes up her own). She's already given a talk this year & done scripture & prayer in sharing time. Her prayers are also starting to be more meaningful & she has prayed on her own when she's been scared or someone has been sick.

I am going on 4 years as the R.S. 2nd counselor & still enjoy it. I've learned a lot & am happy to get to know so many of the sisters.

On Monday the 16th the girls & I drove to Tucson to meet my sister & her kids for a fun day. We went to the Tucson Zoo & rode the little train (it was a little rainy but still fun). Peter Piper Pizza for lunch & then to the mall to watch Alvin & the Chipmunks & play for a bit. It is so nice to have my sister close again. We always have such a blast!

January usually goes by sooo slow but this year wasn't so bad. We just got back into our routine & Carley turned 2 1/2 so she is FINALLY old enough to start dance (Carley calls it "dance cass"). She is SOOO excited & acts so smug when it's Monday. Darling!

This was her first day before her first class.

Mya was trying to show her some moves.

Sweet little dancer! Sometimes she'll do this pose & tell me she's not going to do it in class.

Mya also had her first trip away from home with out us. At the end of the month my mom went to watch my sisters kids & asked Mya to come. Mya thought she was going to babysit & was super excited to go. She had a great time. It was weird just having Carley to ourselves but I think she loved every minute. I took her to the Mesa Youth Museum one day & we got to sleep in. We went out to eat & test drove cars with Gordon & ended up with a new Toyota Camery! Mya cried when she got back & we had a new car but she was over it the next day when she saw how cool the new car was. She loves the sun roof & tells everyone about it!
